Traktor DJ 2 is a free, multiplatform software that can be found online and on the App Store.

Whether you are just starting out, playing small house gigs, or just need a rig for when you’re on the go, the latest NI DJ software fits the bill. As far as free, multiplatform DJ softwares go, you can’t do any better. It’s intelligent hardware integration and the expansion of features that comes along with said integration take Traktor DJ 2 from the best program on the market to the only program worth buying. For all three of these purposes, the new Native Instruments software has surpassed anything else on the market. Traktor DJ 2 has clearly been marketed for the house party, bedroom, and beginner DJ markets. Fortunately, however, the available hardware is all relatively inexpensive, well designed, and easy to use. You won’t be able to map just any controller to Traktor DJ 2. This means two options for controllers, and another option for a mixer. Currently, Traktor DJ 2 is compatible with Traktor Kontrol S2/ S4, and Traktor Kontrol Z1. Hardware support, SoundCloud and Spotify integration, dedicated headphone mix, and on screen EQs put NI’s latest DJ program ahead of the competition.

Traktor DJ 2 is packed with features for a free, iOS supported DJ software. The software’s GUI can also be reverted to the classic view or one centered around the waveform view.

On an iPad, the only major difference is that the effects control switches in and out with the EQs. Faders, a crossfader, three band equalizers, effects knobs, nudge, pitch flux, sync, cue, and loop buttons come together to make up the standard “Jogwheel” view. At first glance, the Mac/PC interface includes controls for most key DJing functions. Native Instruments‘ latest software release, an update to the multiplatform Traktor DJ application, brings tablet mixing to a whole new level.
